Two-Car Accident on Highway 65 in Bakersfield Leaves 1 Dead

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 13, 2021) – One person died and another sustained injuries in a two-car accident on Highway 65 in Bakersfield Saturday, July 10.
 
The accident happened just after midnight at James Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2003 Infiniti was traveling southbound on Highway 65 while a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading northbound. The Infiniti entered the opposing lane to pass a vehicle and traveled directly into the path of the Chevrolet. The two cars collided at the intersection.
 
As a result, the driver of the Infiniti suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Authorities only identified them as a 27-year-old Carson resident.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Chevrolet sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Kern Medical for treatment.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol was a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
