12-Year-Old Killed in Off-Road Hit-and-Run on Stoddard Wells Road [Apple Valley, CA]

Off-Road Hit-and-Run Crash on Stoddard Wells Road in Apple Valley Kills Juvenile, Leaves Another in Critical Condition

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (July 3, 2022) – A juvenile died in an off-road hit-and-run crash on Stoddard Wells Road in Apple Valley on Saturday, July 2.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:59 p.m. just east of Central Road within the Stoddard Wells Off-Highway Vehicle Area. According to the California Highway Patrol, two juveniles were riding a 2019 TaoTao ATV on Stoddard Wells Road traveling in a northeasterly direction.
 
An orange Side-by-Side UTV, model year 2019-2022, was traveling eastbound when it struck the 2019 TaoTao and the two juvenile riders.
 
After the crash, the driver of the Side-by-Side UTV took off.
 
Despite life-saving measures, the 12-year-old boy died at the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed an 11-year-old girl to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where the victim remains in critical condition.
 
Officials conducted an extensive search to locate the Side-by-Side UTV and its driver but was unsuccessful.
 
At this time, the identities of the victims were not immediately available. An investigation is ongoing.
