1 Hurt in DUI, Hit-and-Run Crash on Vulcan Avenue in Encinitas

 
ENCINITAS, CA (June 10, 2022) — One person was injured in a DUI hit-and-run accident on Vulcan Avenue at D Street Sunday morning.
 
According to news reports, the initial hit-and-run accident happened at Vulcan Avenue and D Street when a male driver of an Acura rear-ended a Tesla stopped at a red light. Subsequently, the Acura sped off and the female driver of the Tesla pursued him. However, after making their way southbound on Stratford Drive, the Acura failed to stop at the stop sign at Santa Fe Drive and sped into the front yard of a home. There, the car crashed into a tree, a gas line and a fence before coming to a stop.
 
Soon after, authorities and paramedics responded to the scene and arrested the Acura driver on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
 
Firefighters also reached the scene to stop the gas leak. Fortunately, no one inside the home nor the occupants of the Tesla suffered any injuries.
