James McFarland Arrested after DUI Crash on 15 Freeway near Mission Road in Fallbrook

 
FALLBROOK, CA (June 7, 2021) – Authorities arrested 28-year-old James Conner McFarland following a wrong-way crash on 15 Freeway, Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on June 4, at about 4:15 a.m. A southbound Audi was reportedly speeding on the northbound 15 Freeway. A short time later, the wrong-way vehicle collided head-on with a Toyota near Mission Road.
 
The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to catch fire.
 
Emergency crews transported the 46-year-old Toyota driver to a hospital for treatment of severe injuries. Meanwhile, McFarland sustained minor injuries.
 
Authorities later arrested McFarland on suspicion of DUI. As per reports, the suspect was booked on felony charges.
 
Responders shut down two lanes until 9:15 a.m.
 
CHP continues to investigate the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
