One Killed, Four Others Hurt on Head-On Crash on Highway 84 near Highway 680
SUNOL, CA (September 7, 2021) — One person died and four others had injuries in a head-on accident on Highway 84 on Sunday, September 5.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on 84 east of Interstate Highway 680 just after 6:00 a.m. Sunday. A white Chevrolet Tahoe moving westbound turned to the left and into the eastbound lane. Then it struck a black Dodge Charger.
CHP Officer Tyler Hahn said they have not yet determined why the man driving the Chevrolet turned left.
Medics rushed the drivers of both vehicles and three passengers of the Dodge to the hospital.
One of the passengers, a child whose age was not released, died from sustained injuries. The four other people in the incident sustained major injuries.
The identity of the deceased was not yet released by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau.
According to CHP, officers do not suspect alcohol or drug as a factor in the crash.
The incident closed both directions of Highway 84 in both directions for around three hours.
