1 Killed, 3 Hospitalized in Castaic Overturned Crash on 5 Freeway

 
CASTAIC, CA (February 2, 2023) — One person died and three people were injured in an overturned accident on the 5 Freeway near Lake Hughes Road.
 
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the deadly single-car accident happened Tuesday morning. For unknown reasons, a driver of a two-door Honda sedan, carrying four occupants, lost control of the vehicle and veered to the left. Subsequently, the vehicle struck a dirt embankment which caused the car to overturn.
 
Soon after Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded around 9:58 a.m. A Good Samaritan and an officer began rendering aid to the patients, including one with life-threatening injuries. Although, despite these efforts, one person died.
 
Paramedics treated three people soon after; however, the severity of their injuries is unclear.
 
No other information on this crash was available, but an investigation should confirm the leading cause of the crash.
