1 Detained for DUI Moments After Deadly Single-Car Crash on Leland Road in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, CA (December 13, 2024) — One person was charged with DUI after crashing into a scene of a fatal solo-car accident on Leland Road near Loveridge Road.

According to Pittsburg Police officers, the initial crash happened around 6:55 p.m. on December 9. For an unknown reason, the driver struck a power pole and a fire hydrant, causing a fire that fully engulfed the vehicle and resulted in a power outage. Tragically, that driver did not survive the accident.

Roughly four hours into the investigation and cleanup, Pittsburg Police officers saw an oncoming driver of a black Ford Explorer barreling into the scene despite barricades placed. The Ford crashed into the patrol vehicles.

Following the second crash, PG&E continued to work on the power outage and authorities arrested the driver after she displayed obvious signs of DUI. Fortunately, no one was injured in the second accident.

At this time, the crash remains under investigation. Thus, if anyone has more details on these collisions, call the Pittsburg Police Department.
