Police Arrest Tyrone Tate for DUI after Fatally Striking Pedestrian in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (November 29, 2021) – Police arrested Tyrone Tate for DUI after a fatal pedestrian crash late Tuesday afternoon, November 23.
 
The crash happened around 5:50 p.m. on Pacific Avenue near 12th Street. Police said the 68-year-old suspect from Long Beach was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentra north on Pacific Avenue when he hit a female pedestrian, who was trying to cross outside of a marked crosswalk.
 
The impact caused the 65-year-old woman significant injuries. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she later died. Authorities withheld her identity at this time.
 
Police arrested Tate and booked him on suspicion of driving under the influence and carrying a concealed firearm at $100,000 bail.
 
The Long Beach Police Department is still investigating the fatality. They asked anyone with further information on the case to call them at 562-570-7355.
