Theodore Ceja Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Central Fresno
FRESNO, CA (July 21, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run at Belmont Avenue and North First Street in central Fresno on Friday.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 59-year-old Theodore Ceja of Fresno.
The accident happened just before midnight on July 15. According to the Fresno Police Department, Ceja was walking north in the eastbound lane of Belmont Avenue when a vehicle struck him.
Investigators say the suspect vehicle left the scene without rendering aid and went eastbound on Belmont Avenue and then turned north onto Bond Street.
Ceja was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crash scene investigators with Fresno Police believe the suspect vehicle to be a grey GMC pick-up truck. It should have significant damage to the front end and driver’s side headlight area.
